IS THE CLUB RIGHT FOR YOU?

Are you looking to keep off the freshman fifteen? Or are you trying to stay in shape and keep healthy? Looking to meet new people? Or are you itching to race the Wolverines and other college athletes? If you interested in doing any of those things, then you are looking in the right place. Michigan State University Running Club is designed to do pretty much anything and everything! We are a very diverse club in that we cater to our members, whether they are trying to break records or just lose a few pounds. Our practices and work outs cater to all skill levels and speeds. We also recently adopted sprint and throwing workouts for our indoor and outdoor track seasons as well.

WHAT ARE PRACTICES LIKE?

Simply put, practices are what you make of them. All practices and events are optional. We do not keep attendance records, so come out when you can. We practice every day at 5 pm and meet at the IM West building at the East entrance. We also do long runs on Sunday mornings at 10 am. Practices tend to prepare our members for the competitions that lay in that particular season. For instance, we do more distance running during the fall to prepare for cross country meets. During the winter and spring, we do more speed workouts to better prepare us for indoor and outdoor track. During racing seasons we also have 6:30 pm track workouts on top of the regular daily practice. Our track workouts are designed to push our runners to make them stronger and faster. Remember, you can come as often as you want to as much as you want. Click Here for an example of our weekly practice schedule.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

In order to become a full-fledged member of the running club, $45 dues must be paid. Dues cover the entire school year and help pay for hotels, food, meet registration, parties, apparel, and anything else the club may do. By becoming a full member, you gain access to all social events, competitions, and our weekly email that contains workout schedules and routes. The $45 dues are minimal compared to other athletic clubs and is definitely worth the small investment.

SPARTICIPATION

Find on Tuesday, August 27 at Sparticipation to talk first hand to club members and officers. Get the scoop on anything and everything you may want to know. We will be hosting a mass meeting the next day, Wednesday, at 5 pm at the East entrance of IM West. The first practice of the year will follow immediately after the meeting.

SHORTEST SHORTS IN THE LAND

We will be holding a competition to see who has the shortest shorts at MSU during Sparticipation. Watch for running club members to be sporting their short shorts. If you are bold enough to challenge us, wear your shortest shorts and see how you size up. Winners will recieve a prize.
